Is anyone taking the S5 bus on a daily basis as part of their commute?

I'm starting work at The Campus end of January, and I'm trying to figure out if hopping a bus from Sandton will be a viable option.

To those making use of this route, how long is the average commute, and what times do you make use of it? I'm concerned that it will add a considerable amount of time to my total travel time, and if that's the case, might as well sit in my own car in traffic...

Full trip from Monte Casino to Sandton station can take close to an hour during normal traffic.
Off peak times I find it's about 35-40 mins.
Honestly though, doesn't matter to me the time. I sit on the laptop answering mails etc so it doesn't feel like it's wasted.
I'm also a lot nicer person now that I don't have to lose my ***** in traffic. :D
Out of interest, drop me a PM. I also work there :)

If you catch one of the first 3 buses in the morning ( leaving from just after 5am) the commute takes 20-25 mins only.
It's the ride back in traffic which takes about 40 mins (leaving 3:20pm).

Advantage of travelling off peak is the amount of room you have in the bus. In the morning there's only about 4 passengers on the bus with me.

I've tried it to get to Melrose Arch on that route (Montecasino - Sandton Station - Rosebank Station - Melrose Arch) but driving is like 3 times faster (I leave for work at 5:30am). And it sucks if you're sitting on the sunny side (hot) of the bus down the usual William Nicol traffic jam :)

I think it is really silly that they didn't build a station in Fourways, one of the most congested areas in all of JHB afaik. :(

A Gautrain Station? They are and if memory serves it will be under/at Fourways Mall.

EDIT: Phase 2

I think I also heard about this. Then heard they were not going ahead. Not sure anymore :/ Can only hope.

IIRC they are still going ahead. I frigging hope so, anyway. The areas between Fourways and Samrand is strewn with bits of pre-cast concrete to build the rail with - I'm hoping to catch that daily train once it comes up and running. I just have no idea where to get information on it from?
