Anyone know any updates on the plans for our area? Im seeing a huge piece of land being work on. Its by the Volvo dealership on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Nic Diederichs

If it started it is good. Will probably take a lot of time before it is operational. Remember the original Gautrain project started in 1998 or something like that and only finished partly in 2010.

Ideally, the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) would like to see Phase 1 of the proposed five-phase expansion of the Gautrain network come into operation in 2027, says GMA COO William Dachs.

The concession on the current 80 km Gautrain system would have wrapped up in 2027, with the system paid off, and with the current government subsidy payable to the Gautrain system possibly available for transfer to the Phase 1 expansion

Thats what im asking, has it started

That was supposed to be started over 7 years ago already, so doubt it to be honest.

Last year i remember reading the Laseria route (Little falls fall under that one) is only set to start construction November this year.
SO probably 10-15 years time :)

Probably

IIRC they said they're planning to start early 2019

Hmm, when they started on it doesn't mean when construction starts. The majority off stuff happens before construction starts. The EIA alone takes almost the half the amount of time as construction, and there are more things that need to happen before you even get to that stage.

Gautrain started in 1998 (I think) but construction only started in 2006, the EIA made the cost of the Gautrain increase in 2003 which means it probably started much earlier.

They are also timing construction to coincide with when ther current phase is paid off so that they can get that subsidy, so the timeline you were thinking of was never going to happen. It was a 25 year vision in 2013 to put things into scale.

Lets not forget they planing to make Lanseria airport a city airport by building a mall nearby including having the Gautrain stop at Lanseria.

Oh I know about the EIA, they were going to build a school in Radiokop that was supposed to open in 2014, it's still just empty land next to the Panorama sports fields. Well by empty I mean it's got trees and weeds again.
