Just connect Soweto to Sandton. Then I’ll have a gautrain about 40minutes from home to get to my occasional work from office day
The could have just continued boring from JHB to Soweto.

All of this sounds great but in reality all this means is that there will now be muggings, pickpocketings, littering, vandalism and plenty other unsavoury stuff happening on the Gautrain. The service and experience will tank.

Let the riff raff in and it’s a downward slope, people who are currently using the Gautrain now will eventually stop and find other alternatives.

You guys know exactly what I am talking about but maybe we are not ready for this conversation.

Connecting Randburg to Sandton will make a massive difference. It will be amazing if they can take over a part of the Republic Road and Conrad Drive commuters.

Having a Randburg stop would be amazing!! Honestly, the Gautrain is one of the few transport successes we've seen in SA that actually works. Everyone said it would be a white elephant, but the train is packed daily. Just wish they had more routes from the get-go.

Huh? Have you even been on the Gautrain?

Yap. You will remember my words once these routes are fully operational.

Just because the route will cross a less affluent area means nothing. I use the MyCity rapid bus service here in Cape Town all the time too - It's probably the best example of public transport infrastructure in SA, and I've never ever experienced pickpocketing, vandalism, robberies or harassment.

Get out of your own ass. Most people just want to get to work and back, and if there is a more efficient public transport service that can offer them that, then I'm all for that.

Like I said, we are not ready for this conversation.

You need help

Is there now a large bulls eye on the Gautrain? Taxi association/alliance/mafia doesn't like their clientele being poached.

One thing I never understood, is why did JHB never build a subway system like every other major city in the world?

The Gautrain to me seems like something that should have been built long ago, especially with how JHB grew.

Not like it was hard or anything, plenty of mines in JHB, plenty of engineers, and construction equipment.

Just never got built, and all it took was a world cup to finally get the rusty wheels of government turning.
