Where do I find the PayPal code to link and confirm my credit card?
You can find your 4-digit PayPal code on your debit or credit card statement next to or near the charge amount. In the item description section, you will see it next to the word PAYPAL or PP.

Please allow a few business days for the PayPal code to appear on your online card statement. If you do not have online access to your statement, you'll need to wait for your statement in the mail.

To enter your PayPal code, log in to your PayPal account, click Profile at the top of the page and click Credit Cards under Financial Information.

What credit cards can I use with PayPal?
You can use Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express to make PayPal payments.

Another fast and easy option is paying with your bank account. Many PayPal members choose to pay with their bank accounts because it’s a convenient way to keep their spending under control.

However you choose to pay, we’ll send you a receipt every time a payment is made from your account so that you can keep track of your transactions. And we look out for you. We’ll let you know if we notice any unusual account activity.

What if I don't have a Card Verification Number on my credit card?
If your credit card or debit card does not have a Card Verification Number displayed, it cannot be registered on PayPal. PayPal does not accept cards without a Verification Number for the safety of the PayPal network.

PayPal is currently working on an alternative verification method so credit cards and debit cards without a Verification Number can be registered.

How do I confirm a debit or credit card that I've linked to my PayPal account?
After you’ve added your card number, we need to verify that you own the card on your account. Here’s how:

Authorize PayPal to use your card to send a code to you

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click Profile.
3. Click Credit/Debit Cards under Financial Information.
4. Click Link and Confirm My Card.
5. Click Save and Continue.

Locate the code on your card statement

1. PayPal will charge $1.95 to your card. (We’ll credit this amount to your PayPal account within 30 days.)
2. The charge will appear on your debit or credit card statement along with a 4-digit code and the word PayPal.
3. If you view your card statements online, you can check for the code in a few days. Otherwise, check for the code when you receive your next statement in the mail.

1. Have your 4-digit PayPal code ready.
2. Log in to your PayPal account.
3. Click Profile.
4. Click Credit/Debit Cards under Financial Information.

7. Click Submit.

Can I register a credit card on more than one PayPal account?
No. For your security, you can register a credit card on just one PayPal account at a time. You may, however, register several different credit cards on a single PayPal account.

If your credit card was registered to a different PayPal account, you need to log in to the previous account and remove the card before adding it to your new account. To remove credit cards from your account click Profile at the top of the page and click the Credit/Debit Cards link in the Financial Information column.

How do I link a debit or credit card to my account?
Here's how to link a debit or credit card to your PayPal account:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click Profile at the top of the page.
3. Click Credit/Debit Cards under Financial Information.
4. Click Add a card.
5. Enter the information requested, including your card number (without spaces or dashes).
6. Enter the Card Verification Number from the back of your card.
7. Enter the address where you receive the billing statements for your card.
8. Click Add Card.

Having trouble?

* A debit or credit card can be linked to only one PayPal account at a time. If your card has already been linked to a PayPal account, you'll need to remove the card before linking it to a different PayPal account.
* You can’t link a gift card, prepaid card, or one-time use card – those cards won't work because of the security measures we have in place.
* The billing address you provide us must exactly match the one shown on your card statement. Check your debit or credit card statement to confirm that the addresses match.

If you’re still having trouble:

* Try another card. Your card might not be compatible with the PayPal system.
* Try again later. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
* Try using a different payment method. For example, you can use your bank account if you’ve linked it to your PayPal account.

How do I change the expiration date of my debit or credit card?
Here's how you can change your card expiration date:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Click the My Account tab.
3. Click Profile at the top of the page.
4. Click Credit/Debit Cards under Financial Information.
5. Select the card and click Edit.
6. Select the expiration month and year of your card.
7. Enter your debit or credit card verification number and click Save.

Why do I have to link and confirm my debit or credit card?
Linking and confirming your debit or credit card helps protect your account:

* It increases security within the PayPal community.
* It confirms your identity and verifies that you own the card associated with your PayPal account.
* It limits the risk with stolen credit cards and fake identities.

When you link your card to your account by authorizing PayPal to charge a small amount, PayPal generates a unique random code which displays on your card statement. Only the legitimate owner of the card has access to the statement. For this reason, this process limits the risk connected with stolen credit cards and fake identities.
