Hi Everyone

A year or so back I became quite frustrated by DynamicDNS providers who started charging for their services, or would limit you to only 5 or so free hosts, so I decided to write my own DynamicDNS service that runs on bind.

At first it was only for my own clients, but I recently decided to write a web frontend for the administration and make it available for public use.

I am posting this to request you guys to help me test it properly please. To register a new account, you can head to http://http://dynamicdns.geekabit.co.za. Registration is quick and easy.

Thank you all.

Nice work. I've already registered an account and added a few hosts.

One thing I noticed that could be useful is to put a Create Host button somewhere on the hosts list page. You can get to it from the menu but putting a dedicated button there makes sense imo.

Will test it out.

Can this be used with ADSL routers with fixed options as to the DDNS service?

Dude, no need to spam the forum with multiple posts of the same thing

Sorry for the SPAM, I just though not everyone reads all the forums so I posted it in a few that I thought are relevant. :/

Yes, it uses generic HTTP requests, so it can be used on any Operating system.

No I mean ... in the DDNS section of a router you can typically select one of a few DDNS services like dyndns or no-ip. Usually you can't select anything else or enter a new service.

You'll have to have have a firmware that has wget or curl on it and run a custom command as a cron.

Thats right. The idea with this is not to have a mass user base. I found actual value in it and thought someone else might too which is the reason I am making it public.

This looks good. I think the best part is that it is hosted local.

Still prefer freedns.afraid.org myself for free dynamic dns, since they do full dns hosting which I can use with my own free .za.net domains ect.

Registered, but stuffed up my name in the registration (Typed 'Jargo' and left out the 'n' - facepalm).
See no option of changing (fixing) it. I sent a contact form though to ask if it's fixable.

Not a very good moday for me.. can't even type properly, meh
Aircon in the office doesnt work properly.. it's boiling today!

Your "n" key on your keyboard seems broken;)

I updated the name for you. I will still add functionality this week or the next to update your profile details.
