Will this card play BF3 and what will the FPS be on medium and Low?

It can play BF3, but the graphics will be on low. It's obviously also highly dependant on your CPU so you'd best also post that here.

I was going to say something snarky but then I remembered that actually most games in low mode are playable with just about any card. I enjoyed Crysis on a 7300gs for pity's sake. So yes it should run but your experience of it will not be very good, just be aware of that.

I got a I5 CPU with 4Gig memory

just want to play BF3 because my 4870x2 has died on me. so i need a card to play the game until i can get a better card

Friend of mine has a 2500k setup with a GTS250. She can play, but it's all on lowish graphics.

I normaly play BF3 on Low because the FPS are better then. What is her FPS on low?

Around 30-40fps. It will differ depending on the size screen (hence the resolution) you play at.

With that card at 1360x768 at lowest setting I reckon you'd average around 20 odd fps.

Look at the bottom one, its a much more powerful card than the 240.

You're looking at around 30fps at a lower resolution of about 1366 x 768 with all the details on low. Honestly, don't skimp. If you can, rather get this:

Sapphire HD7750 1GB DDR3 @ R1089

A much better option, and does really well with some overclocking. Medium settings will be playable too.
