Hi everyone.

Long time reader, first time poster.

Does anyone here know Gencon Trading Pty Ltd? Their website is at www.gencontrading.co.za. They quoted me on fencing and have disappeared this weekend. The only person I can reach there says she no longer works there, which I am a bit skeptical off.

I paid a deposit so I am concerned I will not get anything out of this. I will log a case at the SAPS tomorrow and thought I would also check here.

If anyone has any info please let me know. I don't want anyone else to be ripped off.

Yes , unfortunately.

I see they have had a name change on Face Book to Gensteel - 1.0
First post done on the 25th July 2016. (Looks like they transferred all their "photos".)

If anyone has any info please let me know. I don't want anyone else to be ripped off.

Did you manage to get your fencing installed or your deposit back?
 
I used them to install 2 gates and some burglar bars. It was an absolute disaster from start to finish.

* I paid the 75% deposit and they said installation will take place the following wednesday

* The Wednesday arrived and no one turned up so I called their office and they said I had the date wrong and it's actually the following Wednesday, I was skeptical but accepted it may have been my mistake

* The following Wednesday arrived and once again they didnt turn up so I called their office and they said I needed to call the guy doing the installations, I called him and he said he'll need to call the office to find out whats going on. Eventually he got back to me and said they are a day behind due to the rain but they'll definitely install the next day

* The next day he turned up about 5 hours late with absolutely nothing and said he just needed to take some final measurements to make sure everything was correct, but ensured me everything was made (yet he asked questions that made it so obvious they hadn't made anything yet). He said he promised everything would be installed the next day

* The next day he phoned to say the gates are still wet so he can't install, I said i needed it done because i'm moving in to the new house and the gates were needed to make sure the dogs cant get out, he promised he'd do it before 5pm. Eventually he arrived at around 10pm and just put up temporary barriers to stop the dogs getting out.

* The next day they arrived and installed the gates (without latches) but couldnt do the burglar bars because they drilled the holes in all the wrong places.

* The next day they installed most of the burglar bars but not all of them, and didnt install the gate latches either.

I haven't heard from them since. I would say they probably completed more than 75% of the work so I didnt bother following up because its too much effort.

Overall they are probably the worst company I've ever done business with
 
Turns out one of the partners took the deposits and doesn't want to do the work. The guy I was dealing with got in touch with me said he would pay me back over 6 months. Got an affidavit from him. He seems like an honest guy that got screwed by a bad business partner. So now I will just wait and see.

we have also been caught by the owner of Gencon Trading, it was FRB trading then Gencon Trading and our trap Unique steel solutions, promises to pay back our money.
