Sony Music has filed another lawsuit against AI music start-up Udio, this time claiming the infringement of more than 30,000 tracks to train its AI models, Music Business Worldwide (MBW) reports.

It follows a June 2024 lawsuit brought against Udio by Sony Music, Universal Music and Warner Music, which claimed that the AI company had used thousands of copyrighted recordings to train both Udio and its competitor Suno’s tools.

Now, Sony – alongside nine affiliated labels – claim in a new lawsuit filed on Monday, July 20, that it has inspected Udio’s training data to discover that some 30,117 audio recordings have been illegally copied.

In the complaint, which was obtained by MBW, the labels claim that Udio "concealed the contents of its training data", and that it "copied the key expressive features of copyrighted sound recordings".

More than half of all cybercrimes reported across Africa is now AI-enabled, according to a new report by Interpol. The African Cyberthreat Assessment Report 2026 says cybercrime-related financial losses have more than doubled since 2024, rising from $192 million to $484 million. Online scams are the most frequently reported form of cybercrime. Financial services, telecoms and government institutions are the hardest hit sectors. The report also reveals that criminals are now using AI to create synthetic identities that bypass biometric verification systems. Scam centers have been reported in 72% of surveyed countries, with the highest concentration in Southern and West Africa. Four Interpol-coordinated operations in 2025 led to more than 1,500 arrests and the recovery of over $100 million.

Microsoft disclosed that its largest customer generated $24.1 billion in revenue in the fiscal year ending June,
and Bloomberg reports that customer is OpenAI.

Bloomberg then estimated Microsoft’s overall AI revenue at about $34 billion by applying the AI growth rates the company reported during the year.

Dividing $24.1 billion by $34 billion produces roughly 71%, leading to the estimate that OpenAI accounted for about 70% of Microsoft’s AI revenue.

Microsoft has not directly confirmed the percentage.

I looked it up. Basically if they have your photo they can make a fake 3D avatar of, or basically just deepfake your face to pass those security checks where you have to take a selfie with your phone.

Of course they need a whole whack of other info for this technique to be of any use if they actually wanna defraud people, but with just your ID they can open online/virtual bank accounts, order SIM cards and so on for criminal use.
