General coffee thread

I've started taking coffee, it's been a couple of days. Cafe latte (Cafe Express Cafe Catte from Spar) and chocolate cappuccino (Nescafe white choc cappuccino) is what I've been taking to be exact.

I like chocochinnos/mochachinnos. Any suggestions on good chocolate coffees to take? I don't like taking a coffee that is too coffee-ey.

I don't like chocolate coffees, either have a chocolate drink, or a coffee drink.

Are you telling me what to have or are you telling me what you'd rather have?

Today I took the Limited Edition Vanilla Latte. I did not like it very much.

If you want good value, look at the 1kg bags of beans from Woolies. Nice coffee as well. I especially like the Organic African blend they do.

I'm lazy (and too stingy to splash on a pod machine) when it comes to making coffee so I stick to instant.

Especially Nescafe Gold and Jacobs. Douw Egberts not too bad either.

I find it hard to use the Nescafe gold and Jacobs anymore... bean spoiled :)
I also don't have to boil water with the pod machine... i'm saving the planet :D

Any recommendations for medium strength Nespresso compatible pods from the supermarkets?

Yes, I buy the 1kg Espresso beans - the organic one is nice but a bit pricey.

On the subject of Kopi Luwak... seems it's creating problems for the poor civets... human greed is an evil thing.

While there are some ethical suppliers of hand-gathered civet coffee, recent investigations, both by journalists and animal-rights activists, have revealed a cruel and avaricious industry. To satisfy global demand, many suppliers keep captured civets in cages and feed them almost exclusively on coffee cherries. Enduring appalling living conditions and an unhealthy diet, these nocturnal omnivores suffer mental distress — incessantly pacing and gnawing on their limbs — and succumb to illness and death. These grim farms are not confined to Indonesia. Farmers elsewhere in Asia have jumped on the bandwagon. By one estimate, 50 tons of mass-produced civet coffee from Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and China flood the market every year.

Doesn't quite compare to a good cuppa Americano from a pod machine...
But yah, I know the pods are crazily expensive. But sometimes one needs to treat yourself! :)
