General Gaming Discussion Thread

This is interesting. Kojima Productions posted this statement on social media.

Official Statement:

Recently, an article regarding KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS was published online.

This has sparked widespread speculation about the reasons behind the change in publishing partner for *PHYSINT*. You may have seen this situation yourselves.

Our studio refrains from commenting on unfounded speculation circulating on the internet and elsewhere. However, the speculation surrounding our relationship with PlayStation, the commercial success of the *DEATH STRANDING* series, and the production plans or investments for *PHYSINT*—as well as any defamation—impacts not only our studio, but also our fans, creative partners, and all the individuals we have worked alongside for the past 30 years.

None of the content in these articles is based on official or verifiable documented sources. We kindly ask that you approach these articles and information with caution.

We are aware that the article in question has caused anxiety among many of you, and we recognize that overlooking this situation could lead to serious consequences for our studio and have significant repercussions across multiple fronts.

To reiterate clearly here: Our studio is in a healthy and profitable state; development of *PHYSINT* is progressing smoothly in collaboration with XBOX; and our relationship with PlayStation remains as strong as ever.

We extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support.

KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS

Although they do not specifically mention the article, various mainstream media have held exclusive interviews with Hideo Kojima discussing the same subject. One of these exclusive interviews was conducted by Gene Park, who writes for The Washington Post.

In whose article is it stated,

Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Sony’s withdrawal reflected concerns about budget, missed deadlines, potential profitability and lack of exclusivity to the PlayStation platform, citing people familiar with the project. The report also said the Death Stranding games fell short of PlayStation’s revenue expectations.

In a written statement, Kojima Productions challenged the report.

which refers to this Bloomberg article.

Authored by none other than Jason Schreier. Kojima pushing back on him, pulling back a curtain... That is something. I doubt any truth will come to light, as this is largely unwritten due to confidentiality. I don't think Schreiner is in Kojima's good books anymore. The narrative being carved out by the interwebz after Kojima's statement is that Schreiner is an Sony industry plant. I am quite sure that this wasn't Kojima's intent, but the interest will do what the internet will do.

All I want to see is OD and PHYSINT coming to PCs, the plain, old, simple desktop computer on day 1.

I play games to put the real world aside for a while, this sounds like a great way to destroy immersion and continue the battle some third party seems to be on to destroy humanities attention span.

Oh look, a squirrel.

So...

Are we dusting off and reinstalling Destiny 2?

My feeds have been full of people gushing about getting what we paid for way back then.

Not gonna lie, there is just something that Bungie does re mechanics and feel that no other studio delivers, and I kinda miss the 'hell yeah' only a Destiny dungeon/raid delivers.

I kinda lost all interest when they sunset all the weapons I worked hard to ern, esp the PvP ones that took forever to get ranking to unlock.
