The General Manager will be wholly accountable for overseeing all areas of the SwitchX business, from the development and execution of strategy through to business development and the management of operations. This entrepreneurial business requires a specific focus on identifying, developing and managing strategic relationships. Successfully understanding the market place, unearthing opportunities and developing new business realities are key performance areas for this role.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record in general management and be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of how to stitch together the necessary business areas of marketing, sales, business development, financial management and operational excellence to drive solid performance in this already well-established technology business.

Job Outline:
- Build and maintain quality service through establishing controls and enforcing organization standards, systems and procedures and in so doing continually improve overall operating efficiency.
- Plan and manage staffing requirements and supporting contractor engagements for optimum performance and service delivery.
- Co-ordinate financial and budget activities for maximum operational efficiency and overall financial performance of the business.
- Identify and undertake business development activities to define the scope of market and grow the SwitchX share of business.
- Identify, develop and actualise new business opportunities.
- Develop marketing strategies and execution plans to improve the SwitchX brand and company image. This includes collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, partners and employees.
- Determine and implement marketing responses to real-time organisational and market variations, re-prioritising as required.
- Facilitate the preparation and analysis of reports.
- Research, document and communicate industry trends and insights with a specific focus on forthcoming opportunities and industry impact areas.
- Review performance data (financial, sales and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels.
- Manage the overall operations of the business, including all the necessary planning, coordination and prioritisation of work.
- Build & maintain an understanding of SwitchX’s business and environmental challenges with particular and detailed emphasis on industry trends and the impacts of legislation, socio-economic factors, and technology, as well as market conditions.
- Contribute strategic business development expertise to the development of SwitchX’s overall business strategy.
- Translate strategic imperatives into medium-term plans with attainable objectives and clear measurement and milestones.
- Collaborate and reach consensus across functional areas (marketing, finance, etc.) to share information and drive integration within the business ensuring seamless cross-functional integration.
- Develop and deploy metrics to measure ROI.
- Communicate and implement strategy.
- Determine the functional capability required to execute the strategy and ensure sufficient resource allocation.
- Drive organisational infrastructure, process and technology development within the constraints of SwitchX’s business environment.
- Ensure that leadership and management methodologies are reflective of leading practice.
- Optimise the organisation’s supply chain.
- Lead the SwitchX team.
- Budget for efficient and effective operations by translating the organisational strategy into current and future expenditure needs.
- Understand industry dynamics and predict trends in the industry in terms of customers (their needs) and competitors (their offerings) and plan the development of SwitchX’s value proposition accordingly, with a view to sustaining growth and profitability.
