Can't go wrong if your budget is limited to R4,500. Best bang for buck system on the market (trust me, I have a good ear for audio) - if you can still find them. Might need to ask Game to courier one from their Jeffrey's Bay store.

Well its either that, or a R10K NAD / Mission system that is on special @ Digital Experience. But that is R5500 more.

Hifi corp still sell them. R4499.

Aah ok great! Thank you for explaining! Yes 42" would be a bit big hehe - and yes, I wasnt sure about that D:Sign one either - thanks for the heads up. I will stick with reputable brands like you say!! 26" would be perfect, will have a look on gumtree etc.

There is just way, way too much to sift threw to find your quote ;)

Let me quickly get those settings.

AMP Menu

1. LEVEL
TONE: TONE N
BALANCE: FRT = BALANCE
BALANCE + LVLS = all on 0
SW: -10 (sub woofer, set very low due to being in complex. You need to put this up if you're in a big store)

2. TONE
BASS LVL: -6 (put this up in the store)
TREBLE: 0 (might need to go up in store as well)

3. SUR
SF Select: MULTI ST (probably most important setting I found)

5. AUDIO
DUAL: DUAL S

7. SYSTEM
SW: YES
FRT: LARGE
CNR: LARGE
SUR: LARGE
DISTANCE: all 3.0
SUR POSITION: SIDE/HI

--------------------------

PS Don't forget to take a CD/iPod to play music from.

You'd obviously want a CD/lossless digital audio (not ripped MP3, 320Kbps minimum) so that these superior-to-anything-else Sony STR500 speakers can really shine.:p:D

Then keep track when I say things you find peculiar. Write them in a .txt. Although that would probably require more HDD space, right? :D

If I'd said it before (I've never ) then why are you only bringing it up now? Obviously because you are just trying to soek.

LOL!

I can see I'm about to be mocked endlessly - but that was on belhalf of my mom ;)

I thank God everyday that I inherited my interests and wants from my dad ;)

What are you looking at now?

STR500 all day, bebeh! :D

EDIT : Some of this stuff brings back memories! I wish it had the full history! Here's a few of my speakers/subs that I had (and sold) http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=22043&cat=500

Eish, again I see your horrible taste in lounge suites. Or were those also your parents'? :D

Seriously though, those bookshelf speakers you sold on BoB looked like a good deal. Would have snapped those up in an instant. But BoB... Meh!

Wouldn't mind trying to mod my Z-2300 one day - seen a few mods with bookshelf speakers attached. :)

That was also them ... that must have been 8 years back ;) But that wasn't a lounge suite.

They were actually all very good speakers and each person got a great deal. The Velodyne sub sold for 20% of it's value.

Ah well!

Hey PP, just to confirm, with the STR500, I will need 2 x HDMI, one from Xbox, one from PS3 that goes to the TV.

Then 2 x optical cables that go from each console to the receiver.

Then once I have had my HD PVR installed, 1 HDMI cable from the TV to receiver and then I will need to use what for audio? RCA from PVR to receiver?

Coaxial. Same quality as optical.

You'll surely have 1 HDMI from receiver to TV from the start.
