Have you had any luck tracking the PS42C450 down?

Nope, not really, saw Ikonic IT advertising it for R5,984 on pricecheck.co.za, but the reviews have me worried. I'll see if I have time tomorrow to give them a call, maybe I'll be surprised.

I've been contemplating getting the PS50C450, Cats Digital has it for R7999. Although I can afford it, it's way more than I budgeted for a TV in the first place. All the talk about the new Samsung range coming out is not making it any easier either...

Just wish I could just find a PS42C450 for a decent price.

Thanks for the reply! I'm in pretty much exactly the same position as you, so please keep me posted on your findings and I'll do the same!

OK, going down the Price Check list, starting at the cheapest, for the PS42C450:

Ikonic: don't have stock and it'll take them 6 weeks to get it once ordered.
ComX: awaiting response
Sybaritic: awaiting response (website says "ordered on request")
easyDigital: link has expired!
justcat: can't submit a query coz I can't see the captcha image...
hirsch: haven't contacted
webantics: IN STOCK price R7,386

For the webantics price Ill rather go for the cats digital ps50c450. Wonder if one of the cats outlets have the ps42c450 even if it isnt listed on the web...

I can highly recommend the PS50C450. Fantastic TV. Especially at that price!

Hmmm... Looking through the newspaper ads, it seems like there aren't many places advertising the Samsung plasmas at the moment - Makro don;t show them on their website either...

So it seems like there are stock issues?

yeah, assuming everyone's clearing out their stock before the 2011 range comes in..

grrrr i wish the new range would just come out here in south africa so i can see what to do...
else it looks like i am going to settle and buy the ps42c430 for R4999 and probably look at getting a boxee.
I cant find the ps42c450 for a reasonable price anywhere! Driving me crazy!

I hope the new ranges does come out soon! I'll be waiting for it... The guys in the US seem pretty impressed with them.

So I went to game and brought the ps50c550 for 9799. I love it. My wife is still complaining it's too big but I set it up and new moon is on and wife keeps quiet and sits down and proceeds to watch.

Now the question is how to correctly to setup this plasma and what is the run in procedure?

Nice one.

First 100 hours at half brightness to be safe. Although Samsung claims break-in is a thing of the past.

Hahahah good stuff I agree!!! About time!! Half brightness? I have it on 50? And it look way way awesome :)

Opposing View on Break-In: Not all plasma owners believe a break-in period is necessary for the later generations of Samsung plasma sets. The Samsung factory supports this view. Samsung's Support FAQ, as of 2007, states: "Samsung Plasma TVs do not require a break-in period."

Miss. Fail.

We were going on quite nicely before you came to troll. Now go back to your hole, please. ;)

Let's see what they say when I get the reply in a few days?

Could not care less, I was quoting the exact article you used (without actually reading the first few lines) to try and prove me wrong.
