General Plasma & LCD discussions

What is your 1st language at home?

I can get someone to tranlate if you'd like?

Right.

You're getting off topic here ...

I think we agreed to leave this thread alone?

wow I am also kinda lost here.

Dolby, I would say price is very relevant when it comes these discussions. I don't think PP was brushing aside the price of the Panasonic you say has burn in, the fact of the matter is that any plasma irrespective of price will suffer burn in if abused.

Personally price is very relevant when look at the 2 technologies. Plasma I personally think gives far more bang for your buck. LCD's are horrifically overpriced as you get bigger and bigger.

Not to mention people that are in the market for a new TV, are almost always price sensitive, so highlighting the pricing is pretty important I would say.

No, you went off topic by thinking my price discussions have anything to do with plasma technology and the fact that its nature is IR.

We certainly did not agree to leave this thread alone. You're welcome to, though! ;)

Thanks! It appears we're on the same page. :) Dolby is at the prologue, we're at the ending & conclusion.

Grims ...

If I came to PP and said 'I saw a plasma with burn in', he'd immediatly hit back with the fact that was either a horrible brand or it was a cheap unit. He's done it before - and he'll do it again. Remember what we're dealing with here and keep in mind how that infactile brain of his really works.

Now - instead of my simply saying 'I saw a plasma with burn in' and getting his 'it was a cheap, no name plasma!' - I'd rather say upfront it was a Panasonic Viera costing R50,000.00 ... which implies it's a high end unit .. and in turn he can't hit back with cheap.

Just remember there's always an excuse and giving as much information as possible in the beginning , prevents another post. I've seen

it was an old plasma!
it was a cheap plasma!
it was fault!
they had bad feeds!
they had multiple, split feeds!
they changed the settings!

I see your point, I don't think price has anything to do with it when it comes to IR. As you witnessed even a R50K panel can get borked. But that is the nature of the technology not really the price of the TV. But I think we agree on that.

So yeah I would say you can't really blame burn in on the price of the plasma, it can happen to a R5000 model and a R50 000 model which we have seen.

:erm:

Infactile?

Please quote me where I ever mentioned burn-in had anything to do with cheaper brands.

Of course, you are wrong. I'm pretty sure Grim knows that, too.

I don't know how you fabricate these wild accusations? Are you more often than not on drugs or alcohol?

Thanks for the lols, though. :)

By the way, do you actually use a spell checker with your internet browser? Clearly not.

I think you both should kiss and make up :D :p

BTW how do we get this thread stickied?

I'm at work ... using their browser ... so no spellcheck.

I'm attempting to correct your bull**** and work at the same time! I'm not the best at multitasking (notice how I can acknowledge flaws), but you could help me by spewing less cr@p and enabling me to work better?

It's an impulse I have that I NEED to correct idiots on the internet :/

You've corrected zip-diddly-squat. Try posting from just your own perspective, instead of yours and your making up what you wish I've said. Some kind of split forum personality disorder?

Enjoy! L8r allig8or.

Ok well I'm in the market for a new TV, mainly for PS3 gaming.. I was looking at getting a 40" LCD as I sit about 3m away and my lil 24" PC screen is ya, a bit to small for that distance :)
I don't really need network, or usb support for the tv, but atleast 2 hdmi...
I was looking at the sony bravia: http://www.catsdigital.co.za/sony-klv-40bx400-40-bravia-lcd-tv.html I don't really wanna go over 7k so this kinds fits in.. Any alternatives?

EDIT: I've also seen: http://www.catsdigital.co.za/samsung-la-40c530-532-40-lcd-tv.html

You make me want to come to your place, adjust your contrast to the highest level and burn a photo of my face into your screen for so long that no Pixel Magic Shifting Version II will clear it.

LCD

Samsung LA40C530
Sony 40EX400

Both 40" and ±R7,000

Plasma

Samsung PS42C430

42" (trust me those 2" make a difference) and R5,800

Samsung PS50C430

50" and R8,000

The latter two are the best bang for buck screens on the market. Apparently gaming on the PS50C430 is epic. :) Both plasmas listed are HD/720p. But remember, 99% of PS3 games are HD or less. And, even the experts cannot tell the difference between HD and FHD from 2.5m+ viewing distance.

Best go into the stores and test. ;)

That actually looks like a good deal! Either look at this or the Samsung 40C530, also a decent screen.

Wow nice TV nice price to NakedPeanut. But the price is quite nice. Quick ninja edit there ;-) but the Samsung is also nice, for these two you would need to eyeball them as from the spec sheet I doubt there is much of a difference really.
