General Plasma & LCD discussions

so the wifey is having a little of a throw down and wont let me fork out for the PS50C550 which i could get for (R9500, which is a steal!) and have given the limit of R7500 saying that a tv isnt a asset... grrr....

what can i get for the price that is going to run mostly content through hdmi (pc = series, movies) and xbox gaming and for now sd dstv.

grrrr
 
Yea - makes no sense as there weren't fights going on :/

I think the last chat was regardig bulbs and projector life

That's probably it. Sticky threads tend to get closed when they go off topic. Hell, any thread that goes off topic gets closed, except for "Off Topic", and even then sometimes...

Puhleez. That is hardly off topic. Still very relevant. I doubt it's because of that. There have been man/b1tch fights in that thread without it being locked. :D

Take the price to Game. If they have the PS50C450 then they will better R7,999.

Or just explain to the "better half" that the PS50C450 is better than the PS50C430? Better anti-reflective coating, extra HDMI port, USB media player that plays HD video, FM radio capability, better TV menus and remote control (good for "better halves" :D).

IMO R499 is not that much of an increase when you are spending ±R7,500. Of course, I don't understand the situation, if there is one to understand.

How is bulb life at all relevant to bargain/sale prices on tv's? That sort of chat is what the "General LCD/Plasma" thread is for, no?
As for the man/bitch fights: Bwana did warn about that? Maybe it was the last straw?

I'm just not one that cares for slightly off topic posts. It's healthy discussion. It was literally 5 posts in total. All good for me and all related.

Does not justify closing the popular thread. Delete the posts that were off topic.

Again, pretty sure the closure was not related to 5 posts projector discussion.

I doubt that is why. It could be due to this thread and the bargain thread being very similar and seem to overlap a lot.

Anyway, back on topic.

@randomwalsh - If you can spend R7500 you can spend the extra R500 and get the PS50C450 :D

You will be better off with the extra HDMI port!

I did a quick search for the last actual bargain posted. The last post is 1107. The last post with a bargain? 1053. The rest is discussion that's supposed to be in here. I'd be lying if I said that it didn't annoy me.

Who said anything about it being personal? If it annoyed me (and caused me to not want to post in the thread), then it's quite possible it was the same for other users and a forum where people don't want to post is only going one way. I'm saying that that's quite possibly why there is this policy of closing OT threads.

ok so game doesnt do the c450 any size of plasma only the c430...
how does the ps42c430 sound for R4959?
