Generators

Diesel, silent type - normally water cooled and 4-pole alternator (1500 rpm) - high cost and good for extended outages. Say 8 hrs and more possibly.

You can also get good service for your buck on the lower budget though.
Both Robin-Subaru and Honda build locally with Italian Sincro alternators on open frame op to about 6.5Kva. These are typically 2-pole (3000 rpm) alternators though (lower cost than 4 pole) - which means the engine has to run at that speed for 50Hz. I do not feel they are good for the daily 8hr + shift though... and noise - may need to get another muffler if the neighbours moan.

Also get lower end air cooled diesel - also 3000 rpm.

AVR could help - though for PC a good UPS also does.
I have Robin-Subaru with Sincro alternator - no AVR, but Sine wave ups for PC.

I would also stay away from the Chinese ones - especially the smaller "open frame" type..
Scores of chinese product which are Honda clone engines - varying quality.
I think Honda locally (MidMacor) are selling diesel units with Chinese engines (Firman??) - hmmm
