Generic Cartridges and HP printers

Got a relatively newish HP scan\printer thing I print maybe 2-3 times a year so the ink dries up before I can use it. Is it worth it to use the generics these days?

I switched to a multi-function mono-laser and later to a multi-function colour-laser printer.

Sure, it's a higher upfront cost but you can easily buy generic toners for under R300 each, sometimes less, without the nonsense of drying ink and blocked inkjet nozzles.

In hindsight, there really wasn't a need to upgrade to a colour-laser as it is economical to get the odd colour print done at a PostNet or Jetline.
