i've been getting this error recently when i connect to the net with my 3g modem. doesnt happen all the time, but enough to annoy me.
something like "generic host failure" and then mentions some crap about sys32 processes or winsys or win32 or something like that and gives me 60 seconds to save my stuff before it shuts down my computer.

wtf?! it started after i installed a vista transformation pack for xp sp2, but i uninstalled it and did a system restore to a point before i installed the pack. the reason why im mentioning the transformation pack is because my antivirus kept on asking whether i want to allow registry changes (a lot) and i allowed them all.

anyone know whats gone wrong?

That vista transformation packs really messes up computers :( I really dont know how to help you because as you pointed out.. it does a lot of changes.

Does the site of the people who make it not give you instructions on how to recover from their software?

got it off one of those sites that host a multitude of freeware... and i deleted the pack as im convinced that it stuffed my comp up. but now i cant find it again. seems like im going to have to reinstall windows or format or something.

anyone know when SP3 is coming out?

I've had a virus that did that before. It was causing faults in one of my svchost.exe files. I did a repair so that it replaced all my system files and everything seemed to be fine after that. Maybe give that a try?
