Hi there!

I’m on Neotel since about two weeks now (apart from being very disappointed with the uplad speed, which makes VOIP almost impossible), I’m now battling with a awful Windows error for the “Generic Host Process for Win32 Services”, when connected via Neotel. It all occurred a couple of days ago when I first got disconnected with this error. The duration that I can remain online now varies. However, ones the Windows-Error occurs,
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has deducted a problem and has to be shut down.

SEND REPORT - NOT SEND

I get disconnected and can only get back online after rebooting my PC. Soooo annoying!!!!!!!!

The Neotel-Callcenter just relates that to their connectivity problems that their experiencing since a view days – (not knowing when things will back to “normal”). If you google the net, however, this seems to be a common Windows-XP Service Pack 2 Error (that’s the system I’m running on – German version). Updates (KB894391) and solution offered by Microsoft, yet, do not fix the problem!

A virus is also not to be found!

Anyone here who has experienced similar problems and could even offer a solution to the bug? Neotel callcenter-technicians unfortunately don’t seem to be able to answer any question out of the box…! Disappointing!! :(

Thanx for help and/or input!
hilrap

PS. Just to write this thread I had to reboot my system twice!

Yeah.... ummm.. common problem with PPPoE connections on windows XP. Its not neotels fault, its your fault.

Try

1) Enabling Windows Firewall. That should solve the problem. If that doesnt solve the problem then try point 2.

2) Install Windows XP SP3..... This should defnitely work..

3) If this does not work get a firewall router

@ hilrap:
As stated by dekana, this is not a Neotel product problem but rather an operating system problem.

NICE, thanks for the help, I am getting the same error when starting up....Too bad this does not fix the speed problem, my error is gone but ****, I can still not browse the web properly on these speeds....

Hope they come around to fixing the speed problems....

Thanx dekana!! :) It took ages to get the 320MB (XP SP3) downloaded with Neotel speeds. But ones the SP3 was installed, the windows error was gone!

@Neotel
If you are aware of system problems with regards to Windows XP SP2, I think you should also consider educating your "technicians" on this!!!!

Speaking to your "technicians" I did state that I'm suspecting a XP SP2 error here, rather than a "neotel problem":

"Have you had customers complaining about a similar problem before?" - "No Sir!" Yet, we do experiencing networkproblems since a view days, and customers keep getting logged out!" -

Mam, may I please explain to you the error message that's on my screen?" - "As I stated, we do have problems and that's why...!" -

But Mam, it seems like a Windows error in conjunction with your Neotel-Application to me. Searching on the net it does seem a common problem with Windows XP SP2 and similar internet-modems!? - Well, let me tell you that most our customers operate our neotel-application with Windows XP. So it can't be, 'cause we did develop it for Windows XP!" -

So other customers too, can't do anything else than rebooting their PC's to get logged on to Neotel again?" - "Yes! Restart your PC, or take out the battery off your phone (for reset)!" -

Ok Mam, that is not fixing my problem, however do you have an idea when your network problems will be resolved?" - "No! I do not know!"

Thank you Mam! :rolleyes::(

I've got 3 PC's connected via ICS and all of them have XP Prof Sp2.
Been using NecoConnect Prime since December and I've never had the error you mentioned.

Interesting account of affairs hilrap - will provide the feedback to the relevant people.

However; it is difficult to fix a problem when there are several problems at play all at once. Irrespective of the network problems there is one major factor that influences symptoms / problems which is beyond the control of the service provider: the users PC.

Case in point, yesterday I had nukem come in to our offices to help him out with a problem with his NeoFlex Data product only to find that there was nothing wrong with the product but rather with the anti-virus software operation on the users PC.

If the product and bundled application was seriously defective, then we would have a deluge of complaints similar to yours and there would have been a fix already.

Don't get me wrong - I am not taking a jab @ you - just informing you on the different customisations out there on a PC for each individual user, testing for every customisation would be impossible!

I have the same error. SP3 is installed XP is updated and Firewall is enabled. Error still appears and I have to restart before I can connect to the internet again. Any other solutions or fixes?

I dont get an error, but after a few days, my neotel connection still says connected but I cant disconnect it or anything. If I reboot the device it still says connected in Windows. Only way to solve it is to reboot PC.

PS I'm running Windows 7, had the same problem on Vista.
