Generic Meds, Yay or Nay?

Medical scheme are trying their utmost to get me to take Generic Blood Thinners and Beta Blockers.

I have not got around to fighting with them and usually just buy the Thinners and Blockers in full…

I was wondering if anyone out there who be taking Thinners and Beta’s are on the genuine stuff of the generics and what were the differences you noticed…

Thinking about going back to the natural stuff to thin my blood, after all I was on beer for the past thirty seven years and me blood was pretty thin..

Generics just mean the patents have expired and 3rd parties can now manufacture it without paying through their nose to license the formula. In many cases, the brand name drug and at least one of its generics come from the same lab. There really is no reason to buy a brand name drug if a generic exists - you're just wasting money.

Nothing wrong with generics but if you have doubts consult the prescribing doctor, assuming they don't have a conflicting interest.

Indeed...Look at Myprodol and GenPayne.

Exact same capsule made by the same manufacturer in the same lab. There is zero difference between generic and "original" meds.

Exactly this. My SO gets generic versions of her meds every now and again depending on stock and, obviously prices. It's basically the same thing, just looks a little different in most cases

The active ingredient in original and generic are the same. Generics are cheaper as the manufacturer does not have to spend billions on research and development. Medical schemes try and push for generics as it costs less and does the same job.

just patents have not been renewed , same thing mostly , if made in pakistan , check the ingredients quantitys.
