Genius’s Eye 320SE Webcam is an excellent example of a plug-and play device making life easy.
Plug and play is such an underrated feature of modern operating systems. We often take it for granted. Genius’s Eye 320SE Webcam is an excellent example of a plug-and play device making life easy. You take it out of its box, unwind its USB cable, attach the camera to your laptop (or computer), plug the USB cable into a USB port, and it works.
It’s available for use immediately – no drivers to install, no restarting. And it works well. I used the Eye 320SE with my Apple MacBook, which has an integrated Webcam. I plugged it into a USB port, launched iChat, and my MacBook immediately detected the new Webcam, overriding my built-in Webcam.
I also used the camera with a PC running Windows 7 RC, and the camera was available for use immediately. The Eye 320SE comes bundled with an application disc, which features an advanced driver for Vista. This driver adds advanced features such as image-noise reduction, anti-flicker settings, face tracking and special effects.
Other software on the disc includes CrazyTalk Avatar Creator, CrazyTalk Cam Suite and an imageediting application. The Eye 320SE also comes bundled with a very comfortable headset with in-ear headphones and a built-in microphone. It also takes crystal clear images at a very nice resolution, and it features more than decent video-recording capabilities. What’s there not to like?
