Hey guys,

I need some insight into the following:

I recently acquired a Bold 9780, now i can't seem to get the geo-tagging working on the device. I have been through the obvious: making sure the GPS, location services are on and geotagging enabled in the camera options.

I do not have BIS activated yet on my contract. Would this affect Geo-tagging in any way?

Yes, you would need BIS enabled to make use of Geo-Tagging as this will need to use the GPS (which strangely enough requires a BIS connection)

Unless you can find a way to get a different service book, but that's another story

Its more like all the gps software is done through BIS.

@OP

I'm interested in how you are attempting to geotag, I think the way most people do it is to use some kind of app.

I assume u mean tagging co-ordinates to photos that u take with the camera?

I have my location button on all t he time while taking photos & it works fine. Just make sure that u have 'assisted GPS' on in the gps settings first, or it could take looong to get your location using only the gps chip. Of course assisted GPS will result in data charges (small) if u dont have BIS activated yet.

edit : with assisted on it takes 10-20 seconds the first time to get a lock. subsequent photos it happens immediately.

I thought it had something to do with the lack of BIS, my bis will be activated on the 1st June :)

@Rands: Yes correct

Hi All

I have a Pearl 9105 - 3G; I wish to take pics, have date and gps reading to download to another program like Google Earth to update as simple as possible.

Any suggestions please?
