"Generic Host for Win32 Processes", I have been getting this error since Saturday, I tried a Hotfix from The MS website but I stillget the error. I even formatted the PC and still getting the error. Whenever I get the error my internet connection is dropped, and I have to restart to get the connection back. have PC cillin, cc proxy, my meccer adsl modem, and ATi graphics card installed. I did a virus scan and nothing is picked up. I have my files on other partitions (which were not formatted, only c drive formatted).

In the error report it has "svhost.exe" and "netapi32.dll"

Anyone had this problem and solved it ?

If you know what's the cause or how to solve it please let me know, as I am out of ideas.

I have the same problem and it also started on saturday. Talked to a bud and he says it's something wondows sees as a threat and stops it b4 any dmg is done to pc. But it's not a threat just a windows flaw. Supposedly the fix is similar to allowing certain programms to run through a fire wall. He is going to run me trhough a fix tonight and if it works i will post solution tomorrow. hold thumbs for success.

I installed two patches from the MS website, one for the "Generic Host Error" but I still got the error, I then installed the patch for the Security vulnerability MS06-040 (MyADSl Article) which worked, I installed it at around 9:30 am and I haven't gotten any errors since, lets just hope that It works. Here's the link for the Hotfix for this vulnerability - Microsoft Website.
