So I don't know if it's a Cape Town only thing but riddle me this.
You all recommend me Honda & Toyota cars. You all basically are saying buy Japanese but stay away from Nissan and Mazda.
So I took a drive around today and I saw that more than 75% of cars were German.
I drove around for only about 20 minutes and I saw the following.
The majority consisted of Opels. Old Opel Astra, Kadett, Corsa Lite, Cub from 1990-2001 year model. I was surprised by this. Secondly I saw mostly VW, Jetta's and Golfs and some Polo's. Then I saw a bunch of BMW and Mercedes cars and then Fords. I don't know if Ford is German but I saw a lot of them. After that I saw some Mazda 323. Some Tazz's, Corolla's.
Anyways fact is that most of my time I saw German, I swear aside from the odd Atos and Tata Indica everything was German.
Why the fascination with German cars in Cape Town? Surely they must be cheaper than the so well renowned Toyota and Honda you all rave about? At least in Cape Town with so many German Cars supplies must be a very simple thing to come by.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe 90% of Cape Town is wrong. Are Japanese cars so ugly that people would rather drive old VW's?
