Germany has cancelled a planned purchase of 'Euro Hawk' drones, fearing European authorities will not certify them over possible safety concerns, a defence ministry source said Tuesday.

Germany had "no hope" of seeing the unmanned aircraft, part of an overall programme that would have cost more than one billion euros ($1.3 billion), approved for use, said the source speaking on condition of anonymity.

Hmmm, so what does Germany know about these drones that the US doesn't? ;)

Its because the US won't release a piece of collision warning software/hardware so it can be certified.
