Two boys aged 15 and 16 have been arrested by German authorities on suspicion of planning a militant Islamist attack on a Christmas market or a synagogue.
The younger boy, a German-Afghan from the western town of Burscheid, was detained after his home was searched.
The seriousness of the alleged plot was not immediately clear to authorities.
Police apparently intervened to be on the safe side, because the boy had identified a time and place.
"It seemed very concrete," said local interior minister Herbert Reul.
"We received a tip from abroad about possible plans for an attack involving someone from North Rhine-Westphalia, and that's when the security apparatus kicked in."

The 16-year-old, described as a Russian national, was detained in the town of Wittstock/Dosse in the north-eastern state of Brandenburg outside Berlin on suspicion of preparing the alleged plot.

The arrests emerged as German domestic intelligence chief Thomas Haldenwang warned that the risk of Islamist militant attacks was "real and higher than it has been for a long time" because of the Israel-Hamas war.

Maybe I'm just dense. But I don't understand. They are obviously not happy in Europe And UK. So then why do they stay? Literally they can get on a plane and leave. I'm missing something.

Well as much as they claim to hate 'the West', they like the welfare benefits and vastly higher standard of living from wherever they came from (Afghanistan etc.)

Islam isn't a religion as much as it is a political ideology. The end goal is world domination with all infidels either submitting to sharia law or being executed if they refuse to convert. Of course it will likely be much more docile and subtle at the beginning until they have finally wrested control away from the native inhabitants of countries.

So far I think they are doing a pretty good job of it and it's probably not too far fetched to see the EU turning into an Islamic state before the end of the century if the EU keeps allowing refugees to stream in. Even if they close the doors Europe will become majority muslim in about 200 years due to a higher fertility rate than non-muslims (about 2.6 live births vs 1.6 live births).

Islam and freedom cannot ever co-exist. They are not compatible with each other.
Well done EU liberals, you just threw your hard fought freedoms down the toilet. Enjoy the decades of trouble you have brought on yourself with your short sighted ideologies.

All religions can be destructive. Terrible things are being done in the name of Buddhism in Myanmar (which the UN has declared an Apartheid state) and probably other parts of Asia.

The West does romanticize Eastern religions but they are as flawed as Abrahamic ones.

This is simplistic. Muslims are of different cultures and this is also why there is not really unity among the different Arab states.

Some Muslims, yes, others no. Just like in SA, you get some Muslims who support radicals like Ahmed Deedat and others who are open-minded and mix freely with non-Muslims. There are some Muslim women activists in SA who believe that the Mullanahs have no authority to speak on behalf of Muslim women.

The truth is usually somewhere inbetween. The left is wrong in that Islam does have serious problems and the right is wrong in that they do not all think the same and Islam is not a monolith.

Islam cannot evolve but Muslims will just like Christianity cannot evolve but Christians did.
