I think they have an mppt and a dc element so the output side of the mppt is matched with the element voltage

So no inverter needed, but you do need solar panels to cover your specific size geyser if you don't already have a solar installation..

10k for their controller/inverter alone.. seems a bit steep to me..

It says on their site that PV panels are included - but yea I guess at R10k that’s impossible
