Get a FREE .za.net Domain

If everybody know's this i'm sorry, but I only found out about this yesterday :)

You can get a free www.yourname.za.net URL that links to your http://www.free-webspace~site.com/hosting/whatever/~Yourname/index.htm site.

not of value if you have purchased a .co.za domain, but for those freeloaders out there (Like me) go to http://www.za.net/ !

(They don't give domain space, just domain names!)
When and if they get around to it - I've been waiting for nearly a month now.

Yeah, I am sure its like one guy who approves the domains.. like once every 2 months. Wish they would get more volunteers..

yes i have heard it can take a while...

but still - better than getting a .co.cc doman although they are instant!

At least the .za.net chaps are smarter than the Uniforum people.. even if .za.net have less staff. ZA.NET were at least able to make an online form to register your domains through.. thats like light years ahead of Uniforum.

well, if they DIDN'T add an online forum, how long would it then take? it's the only way cause i see they are registering domains left right and centre if you look at their stats.

I've got a few of these they are great. They also do .za.org addresses for you.

a co.za is r50 per year. Hardly a bank breaker and although their system is archaic it is relatively quick.

Besides - say you go this route and decide to switch to paid hosting somewhere - how long will it take to change the NS records?

hey man, R50 is 5 dolla!! i don't have that much laying around!

I used to use .za.net domain names and free web hosting for a long time. When you're in school and without any income it is nice, but I realized that if you have any income, R50/year or $10 for .com/.net is really nothing. Same goes for payed web hosting - it is hardly worth it so spend all the time searching for a good free web host, only to have them discontinue the service shortly after.

Hey - they processed my domain after 1 day!

they are fast now guys, real fast! (pitty i added http:// to the request domain =( )

i'm now nr 417 in the que, will report back to see how fast they do 400 requests!

I am under the impression that they are a lot slower with DNS detail updates as opposed to new registrations.

im having trouble setting up.

i get this error email..

Your NEW request for hardwar.za.net has been rejected for the following reason(s):

ERROR: form incomplete. Please fill in item 5a
ERROR: form incomplete. Please fill in item 6a
ERROR: You cannot have the same nameserver listed twice
ERROR: Nameserver is not authoritative for hardwar.za.net

I filled in the form the same way as my other za.net account.

What can i do. thanx

looks like you didn't enter some fields (5a & 6a)

and err.... you used the same nameserver in 2 different fields - there are usually 2 or more.

I think if you only have 1 nameserver, fill in only one, not the same one twice.

but yeah, i'm not too clued up on this though....heh
