My neighbour is sharing his WiFi network with me and the only challenge is that his house some distance away from my living room.

I am looking for a device that I can use on my side to pick up a better signal from his WiFi. I thought that there should be some kind of a WiFi to Ethernet thingy that I can put up outside near his house and then connect my living room devices on that Ethernet.

Please assist me.

Will work like a charm. Soz skeptic, the nanostation will work best in such a situation.

1st prize: if your neighbour is directly next to your property you can trench an ethernet cable with ducting directly from his house to your house and connect your WIFI router directly to his.

2nd prize: Look at using 2 nanostations as mentioned in the post above.

Copper ether cable in the across in the ground is risky. I use them on my sites as last resort. The amount of times lightning whacked it somehow is beyond me. Then the equipment on each end is totaled. IF you can run cable rather use fibre with media converters.

Take it with a pinch of salt, I was in a clients office and just outside the window a electrical charge hit the tree nearby outside. Off to scoop I went to buy new switches.

Abolutely, a long fibre run would be even better.

Running a cable is not really an option because his house is across the street. I can pick up the signal when I am positioned in my yard closer to his house. Are you all telling me that even extending a router antenna with a coaxial cable will not help?

The two nanostations seem to be an over kill. I wanted something cheaper.

This Tenda unit should work. Place the base station where you get the best signal and it should then distribute the signal to the other stations. You could even setup your own WiFi SSID so you not using his one.

I have something similar for distributing the WiFi in my house.

you skelms must stop this nonsense
and please pay your tv licence, its the right thing to do
thank you

I was wondering that if I put up something like Wifi Extender / Repeater at the spot where I get good connection. Can I be able to connect at least one device like my laptop through the Ethernet port or the port is only meant to connect his side. Either way, will putting up this kind of cheaper Wifi Repeater not make some difference?

Just build a treehouse in your front yard in the tree and move your mancave into it
