Hi there everyone,

I have been looking for property or rather vacant land recently, and I am unable to find any that allows me to build as I would like and not follow estate or complex building regulations (I would like to build off-grid). I have since found a vacant plot with an old dilapidated building on it whilst driving about my area, however it currently is not for sale and there is no one occupying the land, would anyone know what sort of channels I may use to locate the owner and perhaps make an offer? also I am a first time buyer, so any tips or advice would be welcome!

TIA

You can possibly find someone with access to a deedseach(attorney or maybe estate agent)or maybe apply/register to for the deedseach yourself, that would get you a name and ID but not contact details.
Talk to the people adjacent to the property you want, maybe they know the owner.
Or try the municipality, just maybe they can give you information.

I would suggest you find an architect first and design your house so that you can get an idea of the cost, then go and hunt for a suitable erf.
