Get paid anywhere, anytime using your smartphone

How does it compare to snapscan?
Yeah. I prefer the trend of Snapscan away from me having to stick my card in devices I can't tell are legitimate or not. I really don't want to hand my card over to some random vendor.

Who dreamt up this iKhokha thing and combined it with the your business your pocket slogan?

It sounds just like "iCockUp, it's your business what you do in your pocket".

For the same service plus built-in business analytics, iKhokha would cost you a mere R10,860 per annum in commission fees and has no fixed monthly costs

But they charge R80 per month, is that not a fixed monthly cost?

That cost comparison chart is total BS and misrepresents traditional terminals. If they get such basic info wrong (which can be obtained by anyone with a 5 min phonecall) I wouldn't trust anything else they say.

I've got (had) a Pebble (horrible, horrible device, one of my least favourite electronic devices ever) which has the R50 rent/3.75% pricing model. Just this week I converted over to a Capitec machine; 3.25% on credit cards, 1.75% debit cards, R399/mo for a mobile device (no extra costs, that includes the data from the built-in SIM and everything) ... R25k-R35k was the breakeven that I calculated (remember with the Pebble you still need a phone & data). And you won't have customers walking away from a sale because of the crappy POS terminal you pull out in front of thing - something that has happened a few times.

Yip, pretty much my sentiments too.

Yeh, there are technologies that allow for card payments with a smartphone, that doesn't need to have a seperate device plugged in. Snapscan is not a great example of this because of security reasons, but there are others. Snapscan also only support cards that can do card-not-present transactions, so pure debit is a no-go. You need something that can accept PIN on the handset it self...

If only I knew about something like that...
