They do not appear to do the same thing, and controld is not public access just yet so not really getting the point of your comment.

You would rather use something that on the face of it is not even remotely the same thing, and most people cannot use it...

Sure is the same thing...

Comparing ControlD to SmartDNS is like comparing a smart phone to tin cans with a string. Both have a similar base functionality, but the former is clearly superior. SmartDNS services are black boxes, you have no idea what is happening behind the scenes, and they’re mostly targeting unblocking of geo-restricted content. You can do the same thing with ControlD, but that’s just one of its many use cases.

Well at least we have access to the piece of string and apparently we’re 1010 years away from accessing it, unless your using a time machine...

You keep enjoying your future tech that can apparently do ****, we’ll stick with the stuff that actually accessible in our lifetime that we know works.

Tried it, it’s good for browsing not actually playing. Mac, iPhone Xbox all flagged the proxy, plus somehow it made Alexa stop working so I am guessing or if it’s at filters is excessive.

Strange. US Netflix works great on my phone, tablet and browser. On holiday now so can't test on my TV.

I can see it all, but as soon as I play anything out of my region it blocks me, can only play what I South Africa has access too

Just got a new Mikrotik router so have more control, I can get it working now on everything but the Xbox, in fact nothing other than the MS login works once adding CID. Netflix, Hulu, Disney, heel YouTube is all dead.

On top of that my 1 Echo is completely useless red ring all the time, the other echo seems to be working as and when it feels like, that makes no sense to me what so ever, I would expect equal levels of borked, and this is will all the filters disabled, this is CID at its most vanilla.

Also, looking at the logs, and to a degree I can understand, but rerouting 90% of my tragic via America is really impacting my internet, it’s even slowing down speed tests connected to local servers.

Some android and iOS games are returning network errors, and debugging shows no blocked requests.

I can see this having a lot of potential and being brilliant once it’s more refined. For now, AdGuard with GF in the background provides the same level of protection with a much better user experience.

Will definitely retry it in the future, I think a more user friendly idea would be to add in a service white list, creating our own rules, especially so a company like Netflix will be greatly limited by the information we can Google, that way instead of redirecting everything you can select what to redirect.
