Hello everyone

I would like to know that for my driving license test
1. Do i need to go with my own truck/car for them to test me in or does the licensing people provide one for your 1 hour test?
If so where would i get a vehicle,do i have to go ot a driivng school and ask for one for that day

2.Would it be better to get Code 8 or code 10 license?

3.If you have any tips or advice it would be very much appreicated

Im currently 19 if it helps

You book a car at your driving school or take your dad's.

As for 2. That will depend on you. Doesn't make a difference.

Hasn't/isn't the code 10 fallen//falling away?

Edit:- Looked on the internet and possibly wrong but I recall something to do with the code 10 iirc

All these replies assuming OP has a dad (or any family) that owns a car...

1. The licencing department does not provide vehicles for testing - you would need to arrange your own. Most driving schools let you rent theirs for that time or include the use in the package deal.

2. The code 10 test is simpler and thus the reason why so many people opt for it. But for that reason potential employers could prefer someone with a code 8 licence. Thus if you suspect that you may one day be employed as a driver, consider doing the code 8 instead (known now as code B)

3. If you have access to a vehicle to practice with, focus on getting your clutch control and general driving good, then book for a couple of lessons with a driving school to teach you the K53 stuff. Budget on failing at least once.

Good luck, hope you manage.

No, the testing centre does not provide a vehicle. But you can check out a driving school, they usually let you rent one.

Depends on you, honestly.

I opted for Code 8 Learner's last year (still have to get the driver's license tho, personal reasons have prevented me from getting mine as of now), I wouldn't say I'm worse off atm.
Again, it depends on your preference, do you see yourself driving a lorry or bakkie for some reason anytime soon? If not, go for Code 8, if you do go Code 10.

You been for driving lessons with an instructor (ie. not a family member / friend etc)?

I can only answer from my experience many moons back, (and I am embarrassed to say, I drove without a license for quite a while) ...........

When I rocked up, first test, I came on my own in my BMW320.
The lady testing me asked which school I used - and when I said none, I think she had already decided to fail me. Second time round, I did a few lessons and went with the driving schools car -
The yard test is quick, parking and alley docking. The road test was round the block and I passed.

Good luck!!

Had you taken a 320D instead of 320i you would've passed on the first try.

Honestly i would say go to a driving school and take a few lessons with their car just to familiarize yourself with it, then use the same car for the test. Don't take your dads car, it will be too big and you will fail.

My driving school had me practicing in one car and when the test day came they gave me another car.

Luckily I still passed.
