Getting an Importers Code without a Registered Company

Hello, It's become apparent to me that in order to get goods through customs in a fashionable manner you need to have an importers code, I found the documentation on SARS website but it asks for a registration number for a business/company.

Has anyone had success getting an importers code without having a registered business?
The cost of managing bookkeeping and accounting alone would destroy my capital, so I'd prefer to be a private importer.

I got an importer's code a few years ago in my personal capacity, just used a 'trading as' name in conjunction.

Don't forget you also need a VAT number.
You're going to need a business. Really isn't that much to keep one going.
