Getting and iPad app

Please help this silver surfer. I have just purchased an iPad and really enjoying it but have found that I am unable to get certain apps here in the SA Store. I have a nephew in Canada who is willing to send whatever I require. Does anybody know if this can be done. Any and all help will be much appreciated.
