My parents bought a house many years ago and now wish to build a Double Garage with a room above. We went to get the current plans just to see what was approved and what was not. Unfortunately none of the extensions are on the plans.

  • Has anybody been through this before, what did you have to do to sort it out?

  • Does anybody have any recommendations of companies that sort this kind of stuff out. The house is in Pretoria East

Contact the estate agent they went through, maybe they're connected.

Not guaranteed, but one can normally get past the problem by simply submitting the plans for the new alterations showing the house as it is today.

Then, in the unlikely event that the municipality query any differences, simply shrug and say that you are unable to explain :)

Submit the plans for the new extensions with the old alterations included... 95 times out of 100 they will pass the new plans and bobs your uncle, house is now legal again.
