Getting Cataclysm from Bliz Online?

Have anyone tested out yet the new button on the launcher to buy Cataclysm from Bliz store? Seems you can download it before the launch and then just install and register at the day of launch?

May be able to play half an hour to an hour earlier than waiting for the midnight launch ;)
 
It just links you to the Bliz store. When I go there, I don't have a Cataclysm option yet. Would love to pre-unlock it electronically. Not a chance in hell I'll be staying up for ANY midnight launch. Getting too old for that. I suspect they'll probably add the Cataclysm option closer to or after the official launch date.
 
Possibly, I was just interested when I saw this option this morning on the new Launch window. I don't think they should include it on the launch window if this is not available yet...
But I will use this option as well for the game, if the download is not to huge. I have to travel quite a distance to buy the game or be at a midnight launch :(
 
If it's the same as the SC2 launch then the digital version will only be unlocked 10am the day of the launch, so if you want it at midnight you still have to go to a midnight launch.
 
According to the add they have on the launcher, it will be playable as soon as it is released.
 
Just to update this post.

I have now purchased the game online and already downloaded + installed it. Waiting for the 7th Dec to start playing :D
~760mb to Download.
 
Isn't it more expensive that way? I read somewhere last week that it costs more to buy it online than to actually buy the discs :wtf:
 
Was 37 Euro. So probably more expensive than the retail. But added I have to spend ~R100 to drive in any direction to buy the expansion.

Ah, ok if you live in a hole, it is understandable :p

34.99 Euro's work out to around R340. Pre-order price at BTgames is R265.

Edit: R340 and R265 isn't much difference, but you still need to download the game, which costs bandwidth :p
 
I take pride in my boxes. Plus the launch is on a work-night, so no point in me playing from 12:00am anyway :/ I guess by the time I get home from work half the realm would be 85 already.
 
Upgraded both my accounts cost me R 280 each. Started downloading straight away around 700mbs
 
I bought it online from Blizz and downloaded already also. Money is not a issue and paying a little bit extra to make my life easier is great. I'm also not geeky enough that I take pride in game boxes :p They are usually just in the way.
Its also not about playing @ 12 for me, I'll only be playing the next day after work.

Just a nice and easy way to get everything for Cata with minimal effort, I hope. Nicely done my Blizz imo.
 
Downloaded and paid my £24

Although the local HMV store is less than 15mins away, the weather on the Kent coast is piss cold and wet in Dec ;)

I think I am going to do that as well, cba driving to BTgames at mid night, its like R20 more. Well worth it. I have already downloaded the 700mbs as well. Convience is just so much better.
 
Where do you pay R280 for it?
I checked the website and it is like 37euro's which equates to about R360.
 
Instead of purchasing Cataclysm directly from Blizzard at about R60 more than what stores are selling it for, you can also download that last 700mb right now - without paying premium.

1. Close World of Warcraft and/or the launcher and background downloader.
2. Open your World of Warcraft folder, eg: C:\Games\World of Warcraft\WTF\
3. Edit Launcher.wtf and change the "accountType" line from LK to CT.
4. Edit Config.wtf and change the "accountType" line from LK to CT.

The last 700mb will start downloading.
Get a friend to pick up your box from the midnight Launch and mms your cdkey to you to get going immediately.

Reposting this as a new thread so folks who didn't read this whole thread won't miss it.

What is R60 anyway? It is something I am quite willing to pay for peace of mind and even though I will only be playing wow again 2 weeks after the launch, I still think it is money well spend...
