Hello guys

Been reading these forums for quite a while, and decided to join :P

I'm hosting a bunch of servers on IS DSL. Everything works perfectly except when I try to get through the peering link. I can't make SQL connections through this link at all.

I know that they're working on it ect. but I have to keep this bussiness going, so I was thinking if there was some way to bypass the peering link.

Maybe create a proxy on the IS side that goes through a lan to the Saix side?

It's the only viable solution I can think off other than leaving IS for Telkom, which I don't want to do :P

Currently with Imaginet, got quite a few saix and IS accounts.

Tell me what you people think, any other suggestions are welcome.

Put the pressure where it belongs - on IS's side.
They are supposed to be providing the monitored and managed service here.
LOL.
But - as a workaround - phone a SAIX ISP and get a 2GB account and DSL into saix to do the work.
[edit - never mind - I cannot read - you already have SAIX acccounts - your problem is SAIX -> IS -> SAIX is not fast enought to handle SQL Server txn's on port 1433/ port 1433 is blocked]
/me goes back to point 1 - IS must provide you with a solution.

Welcome :)

Just because I have to ask - why host on an adsl connection when there are much cheaper and more reliable hosting packages available? Your upstream speed is only 256kbps max. Spend a few $ (and I mean US$) a month and get yourself a proper hosting package.

Internally networked servers, like Payrolls, Pastel accounting ect. The servers I'm hosting are on a network with about 50 users at head office.

Not really viable to host these servers somewhere else as the bandwidth that those users would be using will cost too much.

Sorry forgot to add, also there aren't alot of people accessing these servers from the internet, I'd guess about 10 concurrent, so 256k upload is enough
