Oh god. Scary thread.
Do not:
- Mix NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) [Most of the meds mentioned in this thread are NSAIDs]
- Exceed the dosage specified
- Mix with alcohol (Especially paracetamol)
People
die like that. I know med always have a billion side-effects listed & its difficult to take it seriously, but this is one of the few areas you don't fck with.
If you've got flu:
Pick ONE NSAIDs of your choice (e.g. Aspirin) & take that as listed. [*]
Get ACC from your pharmacy (a mucolytic agent). Here I do go above listed dosage, but do so at your own risk.
Drink coffee. Caffeine enhance the effect of some NSAIDs (esp aspirin) in a fairly safe manner.
Drink water. If you are losing lots of fluids then supplement electrolytes.
* ACC and paracetamol interact. Not sure whether its dangerous though, so maybe give that combo a miss
Same thing for hang over except lose the ACC, increase water and add a vit supplement.
Also, *read* the package & check the active ingredient and quantity. There are not many of the NSAIDs that are easily available, so chance are you are going way over the limit without realizing it (Steve & Digital Sol). You need to keep the total dosage below the limit plus space them out over the day.
