Hi all, I'm a Telkom provided Marconi USB modem thru a PC connected to a local LAN (acting as a gateway). Did a vanilla installation of Telkom provided s/w onto gateway PC, connect to Telkom ADSL ok. However, when trying to access an internet resource from gateway PC or any of the other LAN PC's (browser, email, etc), the traffic is routing to the local LAN, and not finding the net. Even pinging an IP address on the internet fails. I know its a routing problem, but can't seem to get it working. Help requested.

Thanks in advance folks.

What OS is it?

mikehib,

I have a similar setup running Win98SE as a server (gateway) machine, with the Marconi USB modem providing ADSL connectivity. I have a small programme called spoonproxy installed on the gateway machine. All I had to do was configure my client machines on the LAN to use the ip address of the gateway machine and the default ports used by the proxy (pretty standard ones at that) and it works like a dream. Spoonproxy also keeps my ADSL connection alive because it can be set to do an auto-reconnect if the line goes down.

HTH,
Vincent
