Getting Telkom to upgrade our line sync speed

We've recently upgraded our data package to 10mbps on MWeb, but our telkom line speed is still only syncing at 4mpbs.

Checking on Telkom's line speed checker:

Maximum speed available in your area 10Mbps (Copper)
Your Current Service speed 10 Mbps

Let's check our line quality:

SNR Margin (dB): 173 130
Attenuation (dB): 320 170
Output Power (dBm): 79 121
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 10304 912
Rate (Kbps): 4096 640

Considering that the SNR and attenuation figures are not sensible, I'm assuming that a decimal point is missing there, which put the values into acceptable ranges. If a decimal point was NOT missing, the line shouldn't be operating at the 4mbps rate as it is currently.

We've phoned telkom previously with requests to up our line sync speed. Nothing happens, and then when we phone again in a while, we hear the previous ticket has been marked as resolved, and we enter another one. This cycle has repeated about 3/4 times now.

So, basically I'm asking for telkom-whispering tips. Could there be other issues affecting our sync rate? Maybe it has been done on their side and I'm missing a setting on my router? Any tips from someone who has managed to get telkom to up their line speed will be appreciated.

EDIT: I've pasted some text from the images for those who can't view the images.

Did you ask them to upgrade your ADSL line to 10mbps as well?

... 10210 are more than capable of selling you 10MB Uncapped data without checking your line speed is "up to 10MB" capable (no guarantee you'll get 10mbps even if you're paying for it though).

Not sure if there is a misunderstanding, our ISP MWeb has upgraded our data to 10mbps, now I'm trying to convince Telkom to upgrade our line speed. If that's not possible we'll revert our data package to a slower package, but it does seem like 10mps should be supported on our exchange, according to the ADSL checker.

Sorry, I missed that your data was with MWeb.

I'm surprised that MWeb upgraded you before ascertaining if you could get 10mbps.

That was by our choice for a few varying reasons (our old package was being throttled and we wanted to change ASAP etc).

I'll see if I can manage to track my order but that looks a lot like a submission page.. Why would I enter comments when trying to track a query?

I've put in a tracking request, let's see what happens after the obligatory 6 day wait period (somehow I'm not overly optimistic)

Telkom really needs to improve their upload speeds was thinking of upgrading to 4mb but it also only has an upload of 512kb

I might be wrong, but it looks like you might be on a 10mb line, but they have lowered your sync to 4095. The upload speed looks a little high for a 4mb line...

That's pretty much what I have deduced as well, I'm just trying to figure out how to convince them to increase the sync speed.

So we managed to up our line sync speed! I'm not exactly sure what made the difference in the end, but between countless calls, emails, twitter requests and more someone finally flicked the switch. Maybe the secret ingredient was persistence?

Well now.... i have had a 2 mb line for a few years. We have upgraded to a 10 mb line before. Seeing that we still only get 2mb download speed and .3 upload speeds. So we reverted back to a 2 mb line account. Recently in my area. GoodWood Cape town. The lines have been upgraded. Our max line speed is 20mb Copper at the moment. So we took a chance. We upgraded back to the 10 mb line and now were getting 2.3 mb download speeds and only 0.6 upload speeds. so atleast our upload has doubled to 600kbps. lol.

Is there any tools we can use to sync it up our selves ? Or how do i check the sync like you did ?
