Anyone know of a good one to use?

I read about it needing at R Value of over 1.25... But can't find much info on the ones I see for sale

does your geyser feel warm on the outside?
I haven't felt... But for the price, it doesn't bother me too much if it works or not. My mind will just be at ease knowing I have a decent one installed...

i was just thinking it is pointless if the geyser is already well insulated? maybe better to insulate the pipes rather?

The blankets seem to be 150 to 200l (one size)... So I have a 150l geyser , so there should be enough to cover piping around it.

i mean the hot piping from the geyser to the tap points, so like several meters, this way you actually save water which in turn saves using water from the geyser slightly

Wow.

That seems like lots of hardwork!

They slip over, it's actually pretty easy, its like a foam mini pool noodle, that way you run less water before actually getting hot water

See the other thread on geyser timers where someone posted a link to a really good product, which is a kit for both a blanket and pipe insulation. Even if the geyser is not warm to the touch, added insulation always beneficial, especially in parts of the country where frost occurs in winter.

Definitely! Geysers in SA are designed on the assumption they will be installed indoors or in a roof cavity, and as a result the ambient temperature is above the outdoor temperature in winter.

I added Isotherm insulation to my geyser and insulated all the hot pipes too. Didnt see any noticeable saving on the Efergy meter. I think it would more help ancient geysers bleeding heat.

My geyser is inside the ceiling.
