Has anyone ever put a geyser blanket on a solar geyser?

I'm wondering if this can be done as my Afrilanga geysers are very poorly insulated, and I'm sure a blanket can prevent the heat loss.

Helps a fraction, but must be well wrapped. Any gaps causes lost heat

I got a few geysers. What I noticed was that expensive geysers have better insulation built in than the cheaper ones and don't lose heat too quickly. Otherwise I haven't noticed much difference with blankets.

Insulation blankets definitely help on geysers indoors however if the blanket is on a solar geyser outside then how do you prevent the blanket from getting wet from dew, frost or rain? A wet blanket will definitely have the opposite effect and remove more heat from your geyser.

Firstly...make sure you've got a pan under the geyser. This is more important than anything else. Trust me...I've woken up with a house underwater. :/

As for blanket. Yet it'll make a difference. But its borderline in terms of cost. i.e. Last time I had a geyser replaced I had them add a blanket because they're crawling in the roof anyway. But getting someone just for that...doubtful.

I also personally believe in geyser timers...but that is contentious & they need to be set right to gain a benefit...plus again the cost/benefit is borderline.

I was about to say a good modern geyser is already insulated inside itself, so in many cases it won't really do much.

Rather spend the money on an intelligent geyser timer with a thermal probe like Geyserwise.

Yip I opted for a timer. It's set to switch geyser on from 4-6am so my ladies get hot water to shower. During the day , the solar keeps the water warm to hot, depending on how sunny it is. It then comes on from 6-7pm just for a boost.

I think I'll keep it to this setting and the ladies will need to adapt.

As for my initial query of fitting a blanket, well let's say all the companies I've contacted didn't bother replying. For once , it works out well this way.

Thanks for the advice people ;)
