Ok fair, but sounds like the OP is looking for an automated setupLook at your solar app?
How do you know the grid is down?Manually, via the app?
what would make you do that?Look at your solar app?
does the app send a notification to say the grid is down or do you have to keep looking at your app to see if the grid has gone down?Look at your solar app?
Wow which one did you go for? Mine was 25k for a 4.7kw super versionInstalled around 50k
Yeah but average bath after mixing is about 41 degrees. You need to mix a lot of geyser water at 55 with the 16 or 18 degree cold tap water to get the 41. At 70 you would use more cold water and less hot geyser water to hit the 41.To heat water from 30 to 70 with a 3kw element will take almost 3 hours using 6.9 units.![]()
Water Heating Calculator
Use the water heating calculator to determine how much time and energy you'll need to increase the temperature of the water.www.omnicalculator.com
Heating to 55 from 30 will take an hour and 49 minutes, using 4.3 units.
The heating from 55 to 70 is an hour and five minutes longer and 2.6 units more.
So two baths will end up costing more in the long run as to get back to the 70 degrees is partially longer than from 30 to 55
What logic does HA have that a normal smart timer cant do?There are two factors here, hardware and logic. CBI is great for the hardware, you still need something to manage the logic. Home assistant is best for that.
but if the sun is shining not only is it free but its making my payback period less (just dont look too much into that logic thoughTo heat water from 30 to 70 with a 3kw element will take almost 3 hours using 6.9 units.![]()

How do you know the grid is down?
you log in to the inverter to check (or at least if you have notifications on it will send theses)...and how do you know if Eskom is on/off at home while at the coast ?
Eskom se push?what would make you do that?
What inverter do you have isie?you log in tot to the inverter to check (or at least if you have notifications on it will send theses)

Tuya App has an option to create something called a "scene". It sends you notifications if any of the conditions you have set are met (current, voltage, power, device fault etc) are above or below a setpoint. My timer was 130 bucks. Software is free.you log in tot to the inverter to check (or at least if you have notifications on it will send theses)
Some of the options but it has a bunch of other stuff.Tuya App has an option to create something called a "scene". Sunsynk just pings you a notification the moment grid power is lost.what would make you do that?
Yeah but it wouldn't detect any of that since the timer will still be getting power via the inverter.Tuya App has an option to create something called a "scene". It doesn't, but the I know so little about the Sunsynk app
