Hi guys
I've been having an issue and trying to figure out if it's hardware or software related. My geyserwise wifi went offline last night. Tried to pair again and Tuya couldn't find it. Deleted the device, same issue. Disconnected the cable and reconnected after 5 min and now Tuya finds it...but my automations are all based on the deleted device. So I start redoing the automations (in Tuya) and it reports offline again! WiFi is 100% (signal, bandwidth, no changes on ssid or password). All other smart devices work. Any advice why the device keeps jumping off the nework? Contacted Geyserwise now, waiting for a response. NB I'm also using some info from the geyser on home Assistant through Tuya local-if that makes any difference.

I believe pressing and holding the yellow button on the key-pad places the device back into pairing mode where you can rediscover it and re-add it to your tuya/smartlife app.

Hi Kidcolt
Yep...the pairing button works. The device goes into pairing mode but the Tuya app does not find the device. It only finds the app in pairing mode after a hard reset (pulling out the cable). But even in this situation, after pairing, the device goes offline

Sounds like you may have a problem with your Tuya enabled board.

That is if the buttons on the keypad continue to work once the device has dropped of your network. Then it sounds like it could be a problem with either your WBR3 tuya chip in the device or the MCU that the chip interfaces with to control the legacy functions of the GeyserWise.

Basically imho;
If the board is still under warranty, chat with the supplier.
If not and the keypad still works consider the custom firmware for a max with a replacement esp8266 for the WBR3
Otherwise, a new Tuya board is about ~R850 now-a-days :(

Do you see the access point in Wireless Networks?

There are two ways to pair Tuya...one is the supposedly easy way which has never worked for me and the other is keeping the button pressed down even longer and then connecting to the Access Point the device generates which always works.

So try holding that pairing button even longer until it goes into a slow blink mode, assuming it has an LED.

Thanks a mil
I think its the chip that's gone. The buttons work fine. I just restarted the geyserwise now (only way to get it online). I noticed that the Tuya app is returning incorrect temperature readings. went online and checked the device specs in the API explorer (on the Tuya Dev site) and to my surprise, all the previous DPIDs have disappeared. There's only 3 left (from about 10ish) which control element toggle, mode toggle and fault codes. All the status and block DPIDs have vanished. Will call Geyserwise in the morning... Hope they will replace. Otherwise, I'll have a spare I can test out. I just hate the soldering part! Tried doing an HDMI before and really made a mess

Hi SauRon
I tried that as it works with the Tuya smart plugs but it didn't on the geyserwise. Btw it offline again and in pairing mode but it never pairs

Thanks a mil

About 8 days ago someone made reference to only being able to read 3 DP IDs.

I'm busy refactoring Jack's MAX code base in my free time to work with my TSE1 boards. Fingers cross if I get it right... you can have one of my original 2 TSE1 WBR3 chips in ~ 2 or so weeks.

Man this is great !
Let me know how it goes.
I'm not very comfortable with flashing but still learning!

I've been having the same issue on and off for a few weeks. Any idea?

Yep ...sorry Bradmehl. You have to throw that board away.

The issue is the WiFi chip that Geyserwise used in the unit. The Tuya WBR3 is horrible and constantly drops WiFi and soon enough will lose the ability to pair again. Even hard reset doesn't work anymore. I've purchased 3 from them. All failed.

I went the route of using a different board. Google Thingwala. They have a product called Geyserwala that uses the ESP WROOM32 chip which is solid. I've had no issues with connectivity since I've installed it. Also plays well with Home assistant and voice commands if ur going that way.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

At SmartPad, we replace the Tuya chips on the Geyserwise units with an ESP12-f (ESP8266) chip. This allows us to flash it with ESPHome and sorts out the Wi-Fi issues. Let us know if you need any pointers on doing this.

Hi! How are the updates emanating from esphome? I have esphome Bluetooth proxies and they have an update almost every 2 weeks! It's tiring

If you disable the update entity in home assistant for your devices, it should prevent you from being prompted to update the devices each time Device Builder updates.
