Geyserwise Tuya

Ye you can. The only thing I can't do is set the on-board timer. I just haven't mapped the holiday mode function (but I do believe it is available to use).

That geyser element control is the only one I'm really interested in, together with the temp measurement. I'm assuming turning that on activates the element irrespective of any other settings?

well yes but no if the max temp for that time period is reached it wont go on
That. It goes up to the max temp for the block you're in (which is also adjustable).

That's an easy work around. Set the max temp for all time slots to 75 (or whatever the geyserwise allows) and then activate the element as required via automations

yup pretty much - and 75 is the max but i don't think i would risk that temp
Not saying you have to go that high, just remove the interference from the geyserwise.

At our previous place the solar geyser would often touch on 80 during summer

Xstream geysers are designed for solar, so they can withstand pretty hot temperatures. I wouldn't do it with a kwikot though.

No i get your idea
and ya solar geysers can get 80+ but I'm thinking in terms of just in case it doesn't auto switch off for what ever reason you don't want to waste the batteries going over to heat water 75C - so a high 60S would be good - for winter (lol thas just me )

I am running 2 geysers off my System set them to never be on at the same time but I tested they can (8KVA) - just messing with the settings currently have the one max 55an the other max 60

Do you have some electrical mechanism to do this? Or are you just handling it with automation?
I'm toying with the idea of putting a second geyser inline, but the thought of running another line from my DB just fills me with dread.

If you're putting the second geyser close to the existing one you could probably use the existing cable too. I'd use smart isolators to ensure they're not on at the same time.

I had to run a new cable to my outside garage which is an outbuilding. Previous cable is still underground through the garden on the boundary wall, where it got damaged. I think before I even moved it. So every winter when it rains, it trips the EL. Very annoying. Spent days planning it, a whole weekend putting it in. Hated it, but hated it more to not have access to my garage.

Smart as in IoT-capable?
I'm not sure I'd trust that kind of solution, or if it would be standards-compliant. I'd prefer a proper electrical mechanism for ensuring they don't both run at the same time.

Automation in the Tuya app,

I would run a new cable if I were you( in fact I did when I moved in they were on 1 )
I can run them both at the same time I have tested it both have 3kw elements and inverter is 8kva but I prefer not to.
I also tried putting a2kw element in the one but it's takes too long to heat up and doesn't make sense as the PV/ battery are available to cater for the higher power and it ended up still trying to o heat up when the sun starts to go down in fact on 3kw because water gets hot faster extra PV goes back to charge the batteries

I got my Geyserwala now, but I have the worst time with it and my UniFi network.
Yes I have dozens of devices
Yes I have a separate 2.4g only network
Yes I have lots of ESP devices
I have multiple properly configured AP's on separate channels and correctly set power

None of my other devices have issues, even those deep in the back of my roof work fine.

But the Geyserwala is maybe 1.5m line of sight, no obstruction from an AP and while it connects, the device constantly shows as reconnecting and in HA it flips every few seconds between unavailable and there.

When connected with Config AP the webpage is responsive and works. Anyone got any insights cause this is a weird one for me

Do this to your config.

Out of interest sake, on the wifi ssid your wala connects to, in the unifi console, what setting do you have on "802.11 DTIM Period" ?

if it is on "auto" set it to "1" for the 2.4ghz band.

I had Multicast set to on so I've switched that off

This was set to Auto so set to 1

Ok, so I've done both those steps now and its working! Well for the last 5 minutes, it hasn't disconnected once whereas before it was constantly dropping and I've tried for 2 days

Thank you both

Hi @Juzz Wuzz we're very sorry you experienced difficulty with the Geyserwala Connect and your UniFi network. This is a first for us and we will gladly learn from this, to improve this behaviour if possible. Feel free to contact us directly if you encounter any other issues, have questions, or feature requests.

Hi @SauRoNZA, thank you for assisting @Juzz Wuzz, it appears you know the UniFi quite well. Please would you let us know if in your opinion there is something that we can improve in the Geyserwala Connect firmware to mitigate this type of issue in the future (even it it is just a FAQ) either here or directly on [email protected]
It's probably the dtim setting that fixed it. I had a device that also kept on disconnecting, and the dtim setting resolved it. If the device connected at 1mbls then that setting keep it alive, if set higher, the ubifi disconnect devices that connect at a too slow speed, to try and nudge it to another AP.
