GF lost licence disk renewal - now what?

Hey Guys,

So as the topic says my GF lost her licence disc renewal form that she received in the post.
ow what do we need to do in order to renew her licence? I downloaded the ALV form, but now does she have to go into the licencing department and renew it? Or can she still do it through the post office?

Same thing happened to me I lost my license disc and had to get an affidavit stating that I lost the disc. Went to the PO with ID book, affidavit and R108.

They also wanted the old license disc (expired one) but I had to put up a fight because they didn't need it for issuing the new one so I didn't see the need for them to use it now. They eventually saw it my way.

The traffic department one year never sent me my licence disk renewal form, but I knew it was due, so I went to the PO to get my renewal, upon parking in the PO parking lot, I whipped the licence disk off my windscreen to take it in with me, in case I needed some details off it for my renewal.

Then upon returning to my car, I found a lovely ticket "failure to display licence disk". I could only just laugh.

I also lost mine once and went to the PO and had to fill out the green ALV form along with my ID. For me though i had to bring Proof of residance also since we moved from PTA to JHB between renewals and they could not issue a new one at X if you were living in Y, even though its the same province, so take heed of that. The Proof of Residence also needs to show your names as on your ID and a street address.

Oh Snap, after re-reading OP I see it was the renewal form that was lost and not the disc. To answer that, you just need to go to the PO with your ID Book and lots of cash. If you have the expired license disc with you, you should take that with just in case. If you are going to a Traffic Department, then you need to stand in a longer queue. The people with renewal forms get preferential treatment...
