I've been browsing for Graphics Cards and I would like to know how good the GeForce 7600GT 256mb is. I mostly need it for Crysis that will be released soon.
Thanks

For a start no one really knows how Crysis will play though we all know it will be a dx10 title and so obviously will be better on a dx10 capable card.

7600 is a nice budget card but i really doubt it will handle Crysis unless you play at 8 by 6 with all the effects turned down to low.

Just my opinion but as i say no one will know until Crysis comes out

A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.

Recommended Requirements

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7600 or ATI X1600 Pro (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5GB+
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

;)

ummm that is a 7800gtx whixh is a way better card than a 7600gt :) plus those recommended requirements are basically for lowest quality play.

I dont have much of a budget at the moment. was just browsing around. i saw the trailer for Crysis and was just wondering what budget card would run the game.
My system info:

Mainboard : EPoX COMPUTER CO., LTD MCP61S DDR2: AGF6110-M Series
Chipset : Athlon 64 / Opteron HyperTransport Technology Configuration
Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ @ 2400 MHz
Physical Memory : 1024 MB (1 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Nvidia Corp GeForce 6600 GT (256mb)
Hard Disk : ST3250820AS (250 GB)
Hard Disk : ST340014A (40 GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H20L
Monitor Type : Acer AL1906 - 19 inchs
O/S : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
DirectX : Version 9.0c

Get a another stick of DDR2 ram so you can run in Dual Channel mode.

Furthermore if it's not running at 800Mhz then check and see if the RAM can be comfortably overclocked to 800Mhz. (Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for damage caused by overclocking).

My own stick of memory was able to go from 667Mhz 5.0-5-5-1T to 800Mhz 4.0-4-4-1T (Supertalent value ram) without even increasing the voltage , DDR2 ram is quite overclockable.

The memory bandwidth could make quite a difference in games because it will be effectively doubled.

Hang on to the 6600GT for now till the game is actually out AND AMD (formerly ATI) has some competition out there cause it has the very real potential to bring down prices as well as the fact that the 8 series budget/midrage (IE 6600GT which is midrange for 6 series equivalent) cards should be available then. They might be a better buy since your CPU might limit the 8800 series graphics cards.

system is working fine for games like BF2142 and Rainbow Six Vegas. I'll just wait for Crysis te be released and then I'll start thinking about upgrades. I'm a little hesitant when it comes to overclocking. anyone know when Crysis will be released? Should I start saving up?

I know its a 7800gtx and not 7600gt :) Just thought it made a little relevance to the topic to show that the people who made crysis say the 7800gtx runs it well on relatively high graphics and so the 7600gt will prob be on low to medium graphics... well something like that, guess we'll have to wait for the game to be released to find out for sure. looks like a good game :)

I personally think crysis will bring the 7600gt to its knees. I presume my
asus 7900gt top will probably run medium to high settings.

KNOWING ea IT WILL BE RELEASED NEXT WEEK

with about 7 patches in development to fix their half assed games

Game is by Crytek not EA. They are publishers not developers for Crysys :P

best buget card
Gigabyte nvidia geforce 7900gs for R2800

best high end card is of course your
Gerforce 8800gtx for a scary price of R7000

I hear crysis is coming out at the same time as Duke Nukem forever ;-)
