Greetings all!

Past few days some heavy rain has hit and as a result of the lightning, my beloved Netgear DGND3700v2 has passed. well... sorta

Basically everything works except the 4 Gig LAN ports at the back. I use LAN for 2 of my devices and Wireless really isn't appealing because #WiredMasterRace. I have an old, generic router/modem combo I can Frankenstein something out of.

I'd like to know if the below is possible.

Using the Netgear as a modem/Wireless and the generic as a switch of sorts for my LAN devices. I don't think the WAN port on the Netgear is borked but I don't know how to check.

TIA <3
Mike

WAN = Wide area network e.g. using the modem to dial another modem with one Ethernet port so many devices can use the internet connection

When I used iBurst I had the ethernet port from the iBurst modem connected to the WAN port on a DLINK modem, which then logged me on and let my devices connect to the internet via the LAN and wifi

LAN = Local Area Connection

Tried what you're trying once before, also due to lightning, didn't work no matter what I tried

+1 for #WiredMasterRace :D

Just don't plug the AP into the Router's WAN port, because then the Router would try to use the AP for Internet access.
Typically the ADSL modems does not have a WAN Ethernet port.

Also make sure that you only have a single device with DHCP server switched on, unless you connect the router to the WiFi AP's WAN port and ensure that NAT is enabled on the WAN port, so that the WiFi AP doesn't broadcast DHCP onto the other router.

Connecting the "Generic Router" to the WAN port isn't going to work.

Swap the two devices around: Phone line <-> Generic Router <ethernet port - WAN port> Busted Netgear

Switch DHCP off on the Netgear

Did this, turned DHCP off on the Netgear and connected as you said. Now how do I configure it to use the WAN connection?
Netgear is on 192.168.0.1 and other is on 192.168.1.1

I think I was wrong about DHCP, it needs to be on since it's basically a separate network.

You should be able to choose between WAN or ADSL in a menu somewhere.

Will try suggestions tomorrow.
If that doesn't work for some reason, do you think it's possible to make the WAN port act as LAN?

I have a DGN2200v4 - on one of the configuration pages you can specify whether the WAN port is used for WAN or if should be an additional LAN port.

On that router you have a WAN/LAN port. Mine has 4 Dedicated LAN and one Dedicated WAN. I'm trying to get a root shell so I can try and configure the WAN. Hoping for the best otherwise I'll wait for a bit and get that new Linksys 1900AC or make a PfSense box again.

Use this to enable ssh on the router:
192.168.1.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

Username and password is the same as the web interface

Well it responds to my Telnet request but rejects the Gearguy username and the default username. Will try that when home. Thanks
