Hi all, I'm going to be moving off of Tech5 shortly and currently considering Cybersmart and Ghost Fibre. I'm leaning more towards Ghost Fibre because of their claims of lower latency for gaming but want to get some opinions on how true this is and how reliable their network is since I have been on the end of some Tech5 down time now and I've been getting latency issues on Tech5 that my brother doesn't get on Mitsol down the road from me and also using Openserve as his FNO

@Ghostfibre @ghostRgg are the people to talk to

See if they have a looking glass portal and you can use that to determine the Latency to the relavent gaming server IPs.
You can then use various looking glass portals to determine which provider has the best latency.

Not all ISPs have Looking Glass portals but their upstreams will, so use their upsteams portal the iSP is using. You can use https://bgp.he.net/country/ZA to determine which upstream are being used by the various ISPs and then search for the relavent Looking Glass portals and you can run a ping and trace route from the Looking Glass portal.

Hey! (thanks for the tag @CrypticZA)

I don't want to throw you the usual sales pitch, you can see all the information on our website and we have a ton of active projects relating to gaming, but let's quickly address a few things. We are now a part of WebsQuad but nothing in the grand scheme has changed, as we focus on what we're good at.

Network Reliability - There is a ton to say here but put we have an extensive network, backup links and international routes to ensure there is as little downtime as possible. Majority of the downtime people feel are due to FNO outages and network repairs/maintenence.

Gaming Latency - We have some more work coming shortly (as we get near the end of the year) regarding our low latency network. I sadly can't share too much about this just yet, but our priority is reliability and latency. You could have world-class latency, but suffer downtime and it would hurt more than 2-5ms more latency. This is where we are trying to find a balance.

If you are on Openserve we can send you a test account and you can try everything yourself, just drop me a DM (or @Ghostfibre) with some details and I will get one setup for you.

We have been pretty silent but will be making a splash with some gaming orientated changes on our upcoming stuff.

@ghostRgg Anything we on Frogfoot from Cape Town could get excited about?
What we are planning for is going to be on all our networks and around the country, of course focusing on Durban, Cape Town and JHB due to the NLD routes available. It's still a ton of work and planning to get through but we are getting there slowly, hoping to have some updates to post in the new year.

Hi @ghostRgg ,
I am moving in October of this year. Where can I see what packages Ghostfibre offer and the pricing? The FNO in the area I am moving to is Openserve.
I do not see packages or pricing on the Ghostfibre website.
I would also like to know if Ghostfibre has capacity on the SAFE cable that terminates in Malaysia ?
